"I Volition Never Allow You lot Down" is a vocal by British singer Rita Ora, released on 31 March 2014, through Roc Nation and Columbia Records.^[1] The vocal debuted at number i on the Britain Singles Nautical chart, making it Ora's quaternary overall UK number-one unmarried (and 3rd as a solo artist) within iii years.^[2]

Background and composition [edit]

In January 2014, Ora appeared alongside Nick Grimshaw and Paolo Nutini to denote Radio 1's Big Weekend 2014 in Glasgow. During the promotion, she confirmed she had collaborated with Calvin Harris on a new song.^[3] The preview of the song was featured in Ora'south commercial advertisement for Rimmel London Cosmetics during the 2014 BRIT Awards on xix February. The song premiered in full on Capital FM on 31 March 2014.^[one]

"I Volition Never Let You lot Down" is an up-tempo pop and trip the light fantastic song.^[four] It is set at a tempo of 128 beats per infinitesimal.^[5] Ora herself likened the song to the work of Whitney Houston, particularly her 1985 song "How Will I Know".^[six]

Critical response [edit]

Digital Spy 's Lewis Corner gave the song iv stars out of 5, praising the musical organisation of the song.^[7] Ultimate Music critic said that the song "is without uncertainty an omnipotent global blast, the perfect union of two powerhouses making the ultimate feel adept love vocal." In July 2014, Billboard listed "I Will Never Permit Yous Down" as one of the "10 Best Songs of 2014 (So Far)" saying that "1 mind to that succulent synth line and gooey chorus volition whet your appetite for more than listens."^[viii] Popjustice named information technology the fifth all-time single of 2014.^[9]

Commercial performance [edit]

On 18 May 2014, the song debuted at number 1 on the UK Singles Nautical chart with sales of 105,095 copies, making it Ora's fourth overall unmarried to reach the peak of the chart, and 3rd as a solo creative person.^[ten] As of Jan 2016, the song has sold 600,000 copies in the UK.

On 20 April 2014, "I Will Never Let You Down" debuted on the Australian ARIA Singles Chart at number nineteen.^[11] Two weeks later, the song reached its top at number 5 making it Ora'southward commencement superlative five single in the state, and third overall top ten track on this chart.^[12] In New Zealand, the recording entered the NZ Meridian 40 Singles Chart at number 38, and peaked at number nine afterwards three weeks on the nautical chart.^[13] In the United States, the song peaked at number seventy-7 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. "I Will Never Allow Yous Down" too peaked at number twenty-ii on the Mainstream Peak 40 chart and topped Dance Order Songs chart.

Music video [edit]

The music video for "I Will Never Permit You Down" was filmed in Los Angeles^[xiv] and directed past Francesco Carrozzini.^[15] The video features twin dancers Polly and Sophie Duniam.^[16] Ora premiered the video in Leicester Square on 31 March 2014. It was uploaded to her official Vevo business relationship the aforementioned day.

Live performances [edit]

Ora performed "I Will Never Let You Down" for the first time on television set on an episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon which aired on 22 April 2014.^[17] Towards the end of the performance, pop artist Mr. Educate appeared, dousing her with colorful paint while she continued to sing.^[xviii] On eight May 2014, she performed "I Volition Never Let Y'all Down" on the finale of Frg's Next Topmodel.^[19] Ora was supposed to perform the vocal at the 2014 Teen Choice Awards, simply was forced to pull out later on ex-swain, Calvin Harris, refused to let her to perform their song.^[20]
